Michael Sapienza is senior vice president, partner technology solutions for Assurex Global. Michael started on a consulting basis with Assurex Global in July 2014 and on-boarded full time in November to lead its brand formation and activation initiatives.

Michael’s career started with Wendy’s as a marketing supervisor in 1978, and he progressed through the ranks to become Wendy’s first vice president of new products and marketing analysis in 1985.

Over the years, Michael served in numerous capacities throughout the domestic marketing department and the international division. His global experience included brand development, product launches, advertising agency selection and marketing support programs throughout Europe and the Pacific Rim.

After 10 years of service at Wendy’s, Michael left to join the then early stage electronic commerce company, CheckFree Corporation (now part of Fiserv). As CheckFree’s first Vice President of Marketing, Michael played a primary role in the successful development and national introduction of the CheckFree Electronic Payment Service – the first and only electronic solution that could pay all bills through the user’s bank of choice. During his 14-year stay, CheckFree grew from a $5M revenue company $500M; it eventually sold to Fiserv in 2007 for $4 billion.

Upon leaving CheckFree in 2002, Michael worked with several start up companies and started his consulting practice, Premier Marketing, which provided small to mid-size enterprises with business development and marketing services.

Among his hobbies, interests and memberships are: World War II history, jazz, physical fitness, Italian food and wine, premium bourbon, the Northwestern Alumni Association & Wildcat Fund, Ohio Tech Angels, The School Choice Ohio Board, The Association for Corporate Growth Board, The Pearl Interactive Network Advisory Board, and The Wounded Warrior Project.

Michael is a graduate of Northwestern University with a BS degree as well as an MBA from its Kellogg School of Management. He lives in Bexley, Ohio with his wife, Bev.
