Assurex Global Launches Assurex Global Women’s Network with Panel Discussion

Today, women make up nearly 60% of the insurance industry workforce1 and continue to make substantial contributions. While significant progress has been made, there needs to be more women in the C-suite and other key leadership positions. Assurex Global’s goal is to be an active participant in the growth and success of our Partner Firms. We believe the growth and success of women in the workplace will ultimately lead to greater success and more growth in our Partner Firms overall.

Assurex Global Women’s Network

At Assurex Global, we’re committed to elevating women from across our more than 100 Partner Firms around the world, and we’re proud to announce the Assurex Global Women’s Network (AGWN) was formed.

Formed in 2023, the Assurex Global Women’s Network aims to connect employees of our Assurex Global Partner Firms through learning and networking opportunities.

On March 23, 2023, we proudly launched AGWN with a panel discussion comprised of stellar leaders from four Assurex Global Partner Firms:

Moderator:

  • Erin Powell, VP of P&C, IMA Financial Group, Assurex Global Board member

Panelists:

  • Kristy Furrer, SVP, Client Success, Woodruff Sawyer, Assurex Global Board member
  • Angela Dean, President of Employee Benefits, Kapnick Insurance Group
  • Jessica Jung, President, Oswald Companies

Hundreds of Assurex Global Partner Firm employees tuned in as Erin led the panelists through an engaging and interactive conversation focused on career journeys, challenges, and advice for the audience. Key themes included resiliency, taking risks, and always looking for the next opportunity – or creating it. We’ve highlighted some of our favorite quotes below.

  • If no one taps on your shoulder, raise your hand. Even if you’re not seeing me, I will be heard. – Angela
  • Take on roles you don’t feel completely ready for, and you do it anyway – Erin
  • Attain the next level, move forward, face an obstacle, figure it out. – Kristy
  • The bad days can be as purposeful as the days you feel like you’re killing it – Kristy
  • Ask questions and figure out how to add value. Look for what’s next. – Jessica
  • I was never afraid to work hard. – Jessica
  • Leaders should be intentional in looking for diversity. It must start at the top. – Angela

We also invited the audience to answer a question about their professional goals over the next few years. The results are in the chart below.

We’re excited about the opportunity to help our audience attain these goals through the AGWN.

What’s Next

Building off the launch’s success, the AGWN plans to highlight different journeys of women in the insurance industry and host topic-focused professional development workshops, create networking opportunities, and more.

Our next event is planned for May, featuring a leadership interview with a senior executive from one of our carrier partners.
