Employee Benefits Market Check Survey: Family Building Benefits

, , ,

As employers continue to look for ways to enhance their employee benefits packages, support their employees, and attract top talent, they are more often exploring the array of family-building benefits available. Once considered to be offering coverage for infertility issues and maternity leave, family-building benefits now cover a wide range of needs. Today’s families are more diverse than ever before, and family-building benefits help employees feel emotionally, physically, and financially supported as they navigate how and when to form their families. Employers who offer these benefits create a workplace culture that is compassionate, inclusive, and forward-thinking.

We conducted a poll during a webcast on June 22 to gain insight into employers’ offerings, or planned offerings, in these areas. The results are in the charts below:

Which family building benefits do you currently offer?

Based on 151 employer respondents (allowed to select multiple options).

Which family building benefit do you plan to offer in 2024?

Based on 117 employer respondents (allowed to select multiple options).

Key Findings

Companies of all sizes and industries continue to prioritize attracting and retaining their talent. While the data above reveals that adoption to date is low and that future implementation of benefits is not a priority, we believe this topic will continue to grow in importance and that the push may come from the ground up. Family-building can be challenging, and these offerings can benefit all employees. Businesses that structure a thoughtful benefit plan that includes opportunities for employees to build their families will reap the advantages, from a well-rounded employee population to greater health outcomes to stronger employee engagement.
