Johnson Kendall & Johnson Joins Assurex Global

Founded in 1956 by Edwin Johnson, Ted S. Kendall, and David Johnson, the firm marketed life and property/casualty insurance and began a separate entity in 1965 to include employee benefits. Together, the two companies formed The Johnson Companies. In 1981, The Johnson Companies developed the first 401k plan in the U.S. under the leadership of Ted Benna.

The Johnson Companies sold in 1994, but JKJ remained independent. At this time, Bruce R. White and John Wright reorganized JKJ to be a state-of-the-art insurance and risk management brokerage firm. In 1996, JKJ became the founding partner of RiskProNet International. JKJ’s continued growth has been fueled by developing various niche practice groups, including a focus on international business and through strategic acquisitions in 2011, 2019, and 2022.

JKJ’s team of 125 employees caters to a wide array of sectors. The company has curated special programs for senior living and scuba, along with industry specializations in biotech/biomed/life sciences, construction, cyber, entertainment/events, human services, international, manufacturing, professional sports, private client, real estate, and technology.
